It _is_ a fairly trusted site (run by the FSF, as opposed to
strangers), but nevertheless, I don't know if I agree with sending
this to the mailing list, kind of spam-like. I did sign the letter
though, I confess.

You can sign the letter with your own name all you like. Also, OGP in
general stands against DRM, but we always need to be careful about how
we represent ourselves. Also, if you join this mailing list yourself,
and there is an especially interesting post you get, use your
judgement, but you can forward the relevant portions to the list.
It's about the same as mentioning a slashdot URL and maybe quoting a
really interesting line.

Oh, I wasn't worried about signing the letter in relation to or
affiliation with OGP, more that I don't have a good position to argue
in this thread against sending that sort of message to the list, if my
own actions help rationalize sending it.

My opinion, I think, is that it's OK to forward relevant pages to a
mailing list, but it's much better to compose your own message than to
use the website to forward the page. It helps tailor your message to
the audience instead of using the website's generic message, and makes
it seem like less of an unwelcome advertisement.
