A little restraint would be helpful on both sides. For many of us this
is a first visit to the sausage factory and we can't help ourself from
being a little startled, especially those who already made a major
investment in the platform.

When Mozilla opened their bug database to the public many were shocked
by the tens of thousands of unsolved problems and many proclaimed the
end of the project at the sight, when in fact it just took a while for
the transparency to become common and for the bugs to be taken for what
they are and nothing more.

And it's the same with in the realm of hardware, with Openmoko taking
the heat of the audience's ignorance. Imperfect hardware is often
released with firmware chasing it to cover up the bugs. If it wasn't so
commonly successful to fix hardware problems in software, I don't think
Intel would have managed to successfully release a single CPU ;-).
