By that I refer not only to the Kraftwerk song, but to the endless amounts of crap I've been cleaning up from my hard disks. Why do I still have RPMs from the RedHat 6.2 days?
We're full on into the monsoon season here in Arizona. It's been raining about every other day. I love going up into the loft and watching the rain fall on my neighbor's roof from high up.
I shifted a bit to the dark side the other day, and replaced my video card on my desktop system with an nVidia GeForce 5500 FX I picked up yesterday at Wallyworld for $45. I had initially tried to use a Ti 4200 that Neil hooked me up with, but it was lock up central. As much as I don't want to; I have to give nVidia some props. The installer that they have for Linux is great...it didn't care about my custom kernel, and even allowed me to set the CC environment variable to spec the compiler (gcc-4.1.2) that I compiled my running kernel with.
Band life is calming down. The punk project fizzled, and I have dropped out of the metal project, for many of the same reasons I left the Andys. So now I'm down to a psychobilly project, and I imagine that (and the new girlfriend) will keep me busy.
Yes, I said new girlfriend. Thank you, Craigslist. I've started seeing a girl who seems to have her shit together. She's studying to be a nurse practitioner, and right now, she works as a phlebotomist.
The only other personal project (besides some much needed condo cleanup) is to tear down the motor in the 4Runner enough to replace the timing chain, guides, and if it needs it, the head gasket. It's a big job, but whoever had the truck before me neglected quite a bit of that stuff. Fortunately for me, Toyotas are built pretty tough.
Nsheezey for Jeezy
Funny that you've just noticed how polished the NVidia installer is; it's always been their strength, that, despite being closed source, it does integrate nicely with even the most custom of installs, including my ghetto NFS-booting workstation.
Sad to hear the punk and metals projects fizzled, but it seems your psychobilly rocker friends made you the happiest, anyways, so perhaps it's for the best. Plus, yes, you now have other distractions.
See you before your CHA trip.
