We all know that KernelTrap offers the best place for in-depth technical interviews. However there is more to life than page-tables. Slashdot has run a more general interview of Alan.

This give us the chance to return the favour Slashdot did KernelTrap when it posted its interview with Alan.

Items in the interview that may be of more interest to hackers include Alan's views on "sealed box" PC's and the future of software development in the US and EU. He also answers a number of more political questions regarding the DMCA and copyright issues.

Of course the un-answered question is how many kerneltrappers have guru beards :-)

Do you need a beard to be a guru? As Alan said, Linus has done a lot without one. I, for one, haven't got one. Not even a fake one.
But you never know ;)

But...

Have you worn sandles with your socks on :-) I have no beard but I certainly have developed a Real-Ale like gut which I'm trying to tame. Of course Real-Ale probably only a UK thing...

The way I look at it is: by the time my beard is guru length, I will comtemplate if I have learned enough to be a guru.
