Education
Bachelor's (undergraduate) degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or Computer Engineering)

Experience and knowledge:

Min 2 yrs Linux, C, C++ experience
Familiar with Red Hat Linux distributions, specifically RHEL Advanced Server .
Specialist level knowledge of CVS,RPM package manager, make/build, shell scripts is a must.

Good understanding of Software Engineering , customer satisfaction and quality.

Job Description

XC Cluster is de-branded Linux based cluster distribution that has intelligent cluster installation, administration, and resource management tools for high performance. Many of the world's Top 500 Supercomputers today are the XC Clusters. You may find more details about this at :

The HPCD QCS organization has XC Support team is responsible for high quality post-release support of the XC Clusters for their customers worldwide.

A member of XC Support team is expected to provide post-release Level-3 support for XC Clusters to its customers (system administartors, SW developers) to resolve their software issues. This Support requires incorporating various software fixes including open source patches, security patches, into the patches for XC Cluster distribution .

As SCM Engr, you are expected to resolve source conflicts , maintain integrity of XC Cluster distribution with the help of CVS, RPM, make/build , and automated shell scripts. You will be expected to establish the SCM processes (check-in criteria, versioning, tagging, baselininig, packaging, and releasing) that help improve XC Support team's productivity and quality of deliverables. As SCM Engr you will be expected to configure the XC test systems with needed configurations, and run the nightly and other periodic tests on supported platform/architectures.

You are expected to develop an active presence in the Open Source community; Actively submit distribution specific changes back to communities (such as Red Hat) for inclusion in their subsequent updates.

We would expect you to propose innovative solution/ideas that help us keep ahead of our competition including adopting the suiatble tools/methods and automation.

Education: BE, ME, MCA,(Computer Science or electronics and communication).
3+ years of experience in OS internals / Unix Kernel

Strong C / Systems programming knowledge.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Have good knowledge of software development processes and methods
Must possess a very strong understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and methodologies.
Excellent team player with strong verbal and written communication skills.

The software engineer designs, develops and tests. The software engineer works as a member of an engineering team developing, designing, and maintaining one or more of our products. This position reports to the appropriate project manager. The software engineer:

-is responsible for the quality and completeness of assignments, including investigation tasks, initial design, development, bug fixing, quality engineering, documentation, and general product maintenance.
recognizes and points out design problems during the project-planning process.
-resolves in-process problems independently, or with minor input from the project manager.
-responds to key product questions and customer needs, and ports products to new operating systems and compilers on a regular basis.
-reviews new product or new release proposals, and provides feedback to engineering on product features and project schedules.
