I've learnt that solaris 10 x86 doesn't have HME driver. This driver is used for example for older SUN made ethernet cards, and absence of driver for x86 makes them sparc-only hardware (on solaris 10 OS). Linux have driver for HME cards for ages (./linux-sources/drivers/net/sunhme.c comments dated back to 2000 year), both for x86 and sparc.

UNIX is great not because it's cool, but because it's simple. Natural development of it would be Open Source and time. With time some things become simpler, some things become irrelevant. Openness -- is what classic, non corrupted science have had.
Unfortunately all this is not the case of modern times: i.e. markets of "toasters inside" and "industries" of handcrafted programming...

Summary: programming languages are CS cargo cult; for me it's plain text, so get `sed` and do text processing; but before, some kind of designing meta-language is needed anyway; drivers is a good place to try. Conclusion: linux's, BSD arch/ && kernel/ analogue in meta-language.
Operating Systems and Airlines
Different operating systems. Different styles. But what if the quirks and
styles of the different operating systems were applied to AIRLINES? What if airlines ran things the way operating systems do?

A guided tour of Linux-2.4.5: 9 MB MPEG (384x288, 2000 frames).
From 1.2.0 to 2.4.1: 12 MB MPEG (384x288, 1400 frames).
From 1.2.0 to 2.4.1: 4 MB MPEG (320x240, 1200 frames, low motion).
I know this is a shameless plug, but quite frankly, I'm interested in finding people who aren't _really_ looking - but are open to new opportunities. No, this
isn't an add for a swinger's club. ;P
